My brand new medieval coins:

St. Engelbert
"Archbishop of Cologne, Germany, slain by hired assassins and venerated as a martyr. He was the son of the count of Berg and became the possessor of many benefices. Engelbert was excommunicated but was restored into union with the Church. He became the archbishop of Cologne in 1217, at the age of thirty. In this office he proved his mettle and became tutor to the son of Emperor Frederick II. In 1222 he crowned Henry King of the Romans. Engelbert was slain by his cousin Frederick, whom he had thwarted in an attempt to steal from the nuns of Essen. Engelbert was ambushed at Gevelsberg and murdered on November 7." (from catholic.org)

The first and the second coins are the same type (Hävernick 621 - 1217-1218), but the second has a wrong legend on both sides!
Normal legend: + ENGELBE-RTVSMI and + SANCTA COLONIA
Wrong legend: + SAGELB-ETVSMI and + SANCAT COLONIA

The third and fourth coins also same types (Hävernick 634 - 1218-1225) and as you can see the fourth has some problems.

All of the coins are minted in Cologne (Sancta Colonia).

These are really nice. What is the size and weight? I haven't ventured into this area yet but I would like to get some some day.

These are really great, Baltas. They're kind of quirky (awkward attempts at perspective, off-centered strikes, misspelled legends) but, I would imagine, that's part of the appeal. Good write-up; thanks for the backstory.
