I was going through my coins to check to fill my collection and I noticed this on the coin. Tried to Google but got no luck finding anything. Can anyone help me figure out if this should be further looked into.

Is there a good place near me, to verify just to make sure?

Thanks John100 I got a closer pic of it cause the first one does not do it justice the date stamp goes over the other circle line that's what struck very odd to see but I would like someone to look over it, if anything I can visit the Denver mint store and show them but not sure if I can find a local person here to verify what I'm seeing but I can definitely see how it looks like a possible coin counter marking just weird that the date is stamped over it... any other thoughts

trigger.

Not often we see such an "old" quarter on this forum. I do enjoy that Vicksburg design. I do see the circle you're talking about but I'm not sure what it could be... looks possibly like it was in a press.

to the CCF.

Is the portion of the line passing through the date raised (above the coins surface) or incuse (sunken into the coins surface). That will tell us a lot.

Thanks everyone for the welcome hi's and definitely the input. I am going to take it in and get a professional look at it and have them document their input also. My thoughts are that it was pressed wrong somehow and was put into circulation mistakenly "as we are only human lol" things happen. Again thanks everyone for giving me thoughts on this so I will let everyone know the outcome no matter what the findings are... have a great day everyone

Possibly the end coin that's been through an auto sort and wrapper. Some wrappers spin in a circle to tighten the wrap and seal the end often damaging the exposed end coins surface. Thanks, Doug.

I am not convinced that this is damage from coin rolling/counting machines. Such damage is incuse on the coin and I really cannot tell if this is incuse or raised (which is it?) If it is raised then I think it is not from a machine.

In addition most machine damage on this size coin is 3 mm to 4 mm in from the edge. This is about 2 mm in from the edge.
