Fox, it's the old pci inserts that toned them in those pastel colors. This is a somewhat unknown piece of ASE toner history and they have a following that's growing. Old pci ASE slabs with the pastel tones go for around $200 +/- in today's market depending on eye appeal. I just peronally don't like them as they're pastel colors are too muted for my tastes

I did not know that...I wouldn't buy a PCI slabbed coin at below market but everyone has their thing I guess

I still remember buying a PCI MS70 ASE WAY back for a VERY reasonable price, removed it from the slab and submitted to NGC,,,

Came back a MS68

It's ironic that a slabbed coin would tone. I think.

Ironic in that people paid "experts" to grade and slab coins, when the coins ultimately were toned by the inserts inserted by said experts. And now those are worth *more*?! Sounds like the very definition of a manufactured market to me and makes me on the whole slabbing thing even more.

But that's just me and I realize the tech has come a long way. As I always say, collect what makes you happy. I certainly do!
