1843 L.C. I just picked this up at a local show. It shows a little darker in hand and is still very pleasing to the eye. I like the split stars all the way around on the obverse. And note the die cracks on the reverse before the S in states and then through the I in America:) Also note the area at around 8:00 on the reverse; I think its a planchet flaw. The seller said he thought it was a strike through debris. What do you think? Please grade and if you can tell me the variety.

AU53. To me it looks like a die crack. The rim issues look as if they are planchet flaws. Like the full split stars...I think that should be part of the grade just like FSB

Solid 50 that might sneak up on 53. Nice color with no hint of cleaning or dipping. Great late die states. Planchet flaws, not strike thru. Amazingly nice strike for those well used dies.
Plain and simply a winner of a coin.

It looks like an AU-50 to me. That is really nice coin.
I've considered putting together a date set of large cents, and if I do, I'd want coins like that in it.
