is the doubling on the rim of this an error type? also I know it is a chewed up coin, but does it have any more value than the silver content?

I don't quite know what you mean by doubling on the rim. I see some circulation damage on the obverse and the poor reverse looks like it got dragged around in a parking lot.

It's still worth $3.50 -- probably.

Okay, thanks for the pic.

I think that is damage from a coin machine -- so I would consider that normal wear on an old coin.

I'm crazy about Washinton quarters and I've hardly ever seen one I didn't like -- no matter how worn they are. But this poor thing got so beat up -- well, it's just sad. Still, if you found it, it's worth keeping just for the silver. I would, but I keep everything.

MAD = MisAligned Dies

can't really tell on the reverse, but the obverse die looks like it was shifted a little toward the 9 o'clock position.
