Recently the discussion has concentrated on the falling prices of nclt coins. I think it would be fun to have a thread tracking RCM coins that are either maintaining their issue price or selling above. It would be interesting to see if there are certain themes that do better. I was looking at ebay sold listings and 2 I found are 2014 Ghost Bride Retail $30, sold with shipping $84. The next coin I saw was 2013 Superman Shield $119 I think, sold for $201 shipped & $231 shipped. The 2013 $15 Superman Modern issue $69, sold $133 shipped. Another $20 Hologram Superman issue $129, sold $177 shipped. These are just a couple examples of BINs I came across tonight. Please add coins that meet the criteria above. Lets see which coins are doing well. Edited by pocket change 50 01/27/2016 10:54 pm

Good topic More recently the 2 OZ Voyageur Still the 1st 3 or 4 of the original bird series - Nuthatch, Cardinal, Woodpecker, Blue Jay, Goldfinch are well above issue The 1912 to 1914 $5 and $10 gold hoard seems to maintain their price or better. 2012 Glow in the Dark Pachyrhinosaurus still holding at about $70

The 2000 Bluenose $20 falls into that category. I think the issue was $75? I have noticed their prices are falling though, but I believe it's still above issue.

Though they have come down from their historic highs in recent years, the following commemorative silver dollars (w/ mintage statistics and issue price) generally trade above issue price: - 2002 Queen Mother (9,994; $49.95) - 2005 Canada's National Flag w/ Red Enamel (4,898; $99.95) - 2006 Medal of Bravery, w/ Enamel (4,951; $99.95) - 2007 Celebration of the Arts (6,704; $54.95) - 2008 RCM Centennial (15,054; $59.95) - 2009 Montreal Canadiens Centennial (10,093 single / 4,907 w/ stand; $69.95 / $74.95) - 2010 Vancouver Olympics "The Sun" (5,000; $139.95)

Most of the Farewell to Penny products, of course the 2007 baby products, and some of the weird mintages of the 2009 NHL mini puck loonies and hockey masks, there some but less than 3 to 4% a year if that.

We are generating a nice list of coins. The surprise of the lot is the yearly baby feet coin. Years 2013-2015 are conspicuously absent from the growing list, aside from 1 or 2 coins. It seems years with large releases are doing badly. They're also the years with monthly releases, rather than quarterly releases.

2006 $3 square beaver. Particularly if you have an undamaged one. I don't have our spreadsheet here but a couple of the early $20 Raindrop coins; the 2008 first of the series and the 2009 Autumn Showers I think? Also the 2007 $20 snowflakes and maybe the 2008's.

1970 VIP Specimen set... worth many orders of magnitude from original cost (if you were lucky enough to buy one). In the early 2000s, a set could be had for $400, now they fetch $800 or more.

Interesting, taking SPP's example of the 2007 Red-Breasted Nuthatch, Birds of Canada Series and why not to always chase sell outs...... 25,000 minted http://www.coincommunity.com/canadi...-quarter.asp11,909 quantity sold Per 2015 Charlton Vol 2 That would suggest at the time it was issued, it was pretty much a yawner. The first of the series was the hummingbird also released the same year sold far more at 17,174. Then later as the series progressed releases through the years peaked at almost 20,000 in 2012 as more people began collecting it, the nuthatch the rarest, so its low supply/increasing demand upped it's value. There's a lot of valuable information to be found in Charlton Vol 2 which is very helpful in observing NCLT trends, so I continue to recommend anyone who chooses to pursue NCLT and who doesn't know about it to invest in a copy. It's an excellent educational tool which enables one to notice why some NCLT increases in value, aside from the fact that hindsight makes it obvious.

Many of the questions posed here on CCF could be answered in less time than it takes to type the question if one has the Charlton Catalogue on the shelf.

+1. I recently got the 2016 edition. It's about twice as thick as the 2013 edition lol.
The birds of Canada series are also a great example to those who focus on 'x spot' and PM content when looking at NCLT. Sometimes, metal composition is just not that important to collectors.
