Could this be PMD? Perhaps the apparent lamination ridges are just metal displaced during damage.

It looks like someone picked at the lamination exposing lighter copper a while ago. I don't know. It is a nice lam I guess. Just something is off to me.

I would have thought PMD, but with the obverse looking good I can't see how the reverse would suffer so, except for delamination.

There's enough peeling metal around 2:30 to think it's a lam. I agree that the wide, rounded strip is part of the peel that was picked at and essentially rolled up. Nice buy for a nickel.
