Yesterday, I saw this coin in Virginia. I told the holder that I thought that it was a counterfeit as I was unaware of any existing. It appears to have been cleaned and I'm confused as I thought there were none in circulation. Also, it is worn, but I told this individual that I would put the pictures in our forum for some experts to teel us what it is? I would appreciate any help? Thank you, Peele Dunn

If it's real then that makes Daniel Carr a counterfeiter.

Okay, I looked up Daniel Carr of dc-coin, but what does he have to do with a 1964 D Peace? (real or fake)

Daniel Carr makes "restrikes" of coins never minted but this is just a Peace dollar someone has altered the date on. His work is "perfect" and this coin is worn out.

Daniel Carr makes (made) several "fantasy" pieces for collectors. I put fantasy in quotation marks because what he does is take a genuine Peace dollar and strike over the old date and mint mark and put in place a new date/ mint make, this being 1964 D (since 1964 D Peace dollars WERE minted but all destroyed). Carr has also made many other over strikes, such as 1908 Wheat cent, 1970 Ike dollar, etc.

The date looks like a 1st grader made it. 100% not a Carr coin or genuine, a very bad counterfeit.

Coinfusion is coinfusing me The op coin has the classic apperance of a Chinese cast counterfit.

It has the look of a cast Chinese fantasy coin. It can't be a counterfeit as all Denver minted 1964 Peace dollars were destroyed. (right all of you DC fans?)
