As a noob I'm not sure how to tell the difference between dies. For example for the 1972.

I've looked on Lincolncentresource.com but I'm still not able to distinct between all of the different dies.

Please help.

In general the die markers would help to tell dies apart. On a cent with an S or D mint mark you could also check locations of mint marks in addition.

In addition to Lincolncentresource a site like coppercoins, doubledie or varietyvista might have more photos and notes to show those markers and maybe a different die stages eds, mds, lds.

You can also post pictures here and people are always happy to help.
