This is my 3rd P and I have found 3 D as well. In August of 2011, I discovered the 9th die pair for the Denver minted ones.
Rest in Peace

Sorry but I need an explanation. Has something to do with the designers initials obviously.

What made you realize the initials were different seal?

The first thing I look at is the F. The horizontal bars on an 005 are almost the same length, whereas on the 006 the bottom one is considerably shorter. Then I notice the top part of the G if it is even or a little past the upright it is an 005. Short of the upright is an 006. Then of course is the extensention of the upright to the south. If it is there, it is an 006 if not an 005.

Great find, I haven't had many 1988's but the RDV is the first thing I check. No luck so far though.

With all due respect to seal006 ... I politely suggest that he/she consider the main objective of this forum is education ... and apparently interested members were not well educated by the glory post with no explanation.

IMHO ... it would have been a much better original post ... and in the spirit of the CCF ... to have simply stated this find was a 1988 RDV ... then anyone could do their own research .... not just saying ....

That quote assumes everyone is the same expert as the OP .... which is not why we are here.

BTW ... congratulations on the tough variety find.
