Not sure what this is - Missing G and missing hair details. Striations seem consistent through fields and anomalies. Any help appreciated.

Looks like a large strike through grease.

Nice job capturing the elements. I'm deferring judgment at this time, because I can and I'm still at my wits end on what to think after the last discussion on similar traits. Thanks, Doug.

Hi folks - a dremel tool to the die might be plausible. A couple blobs of grease too. Looks removed though, almost like a dremel was taken to the die. The coin surface has the appearance of material being dug out. Here's another close up shot.

Don't believe any dremel tools were involved. If the die was gouged it would be raised on the coin. If the coin was gouged we would see zinc base metal showing.

Unless the pics are tricking me, the reverse seems weak opposite the anomaly as well.

If the weight is normal and if the edge is flat then I'd say Struck Through Grease.

If the edge is not clearly formed then could be combination strike though grease with a soft strike. Thanks, Doug.

PS: If the weight is off, then could planchet related.

Good point Doug. Grease is still on the table. Weight is correct. Odd though how it's constrained to just the G and the nearby hair. I've set it aside for the time being.

There may have been some grit in the grease thus making the surface slightly rough?

Could be coop. To your point, you can see the striations on the fields and the bust. All in the same direction and straight.

I'm on an odd streak tonight, CM. One of those days I guess.

Oddly enough, so am I, Rackster. I posted one a while back missing the N in IN and the G in God. It read "I OD IN TRUST".

Yes, that is different for sure. I don't find many that have the grease strike through's on the obverse. I have seen on the forum where they are struck through some debris or fabric/metal of the sort. I found one a month or so ago where the D was missing in GOD.

It is so much fun to find the ones that are different and get you really thinking.

I also found a 2000 Greaser with many device almost obliterated. However this one is different if it is grease. Even my severe greasers are only flush to the fields. This one digs into the field and messes up Lincoln's hair. I'll post the 2000 later today when I get home. Also of note is that other than the select areas affected the rest of the coin is rather crisp.
