My sub to NN runs out next month, have been on the fence as to renewal. I can pick up copies of Colin World at a local shop and am trying to reduce the paper in my life.

My Visa is showing a charge by them for $29.99 processed 2-1 which I did not submit. I assume there was some fine print when I subscribed last year re automatic renewal. If there was it sure wasn't made real clear.

Has this happened to anyone else, seems sort of sneaky.

All you have to do is call them Monday, and have them cancel it.

Even the CCF has an automatic renewal and almost every other thing on earth has auto renew, some which must be changed to get off. Easy to correct, as was mentioned, if you decide against it.

The world is increasingly becoming opt-out, when opt-in should be the default.

I emailed and yes that is their policy, automatic renewal. Publications probably lose a lot of subscribers when renewal time comes. I have told them this renewal is OK, but in future not to do this. I do not recall seeing anything re this when subscribing.

Their publication Numismatic News Express is free and delivered monthly via email / pdf.

Just sign up on the website.

I have never seen a print issue myself, but I can't imagine they have much more content than is in the free version.

If anyone is paying for this and not checking this out for free, you are missing out.

They can't do an automatic renewal charge when you pay by check

My problem with NN is that I subscribed in early December, and have received only 2 issues in the mail. I get the online version, but I put the paper copies in my throneroom for leisurely perusing. Grrr.

I remember those. People who used those in grocery stores would upset others behind them in line because it took twenty times longer to process the transaction.
