2016-Four-Leaf-Clover

2016-Four-Leaf-Clover

A pleasant surprise, this coin far exceeded my expectations.

Somewhere I recalling reading that the clover leaf was enamel, which I assumed a flat finish but actually it's highly iridescent. I bought it not for St Pat's day, instead at some point during 2016 I plan to give it as a token of acknowledgement to someone who I hope will be celebrating a special event. If that doesn't come to pass, I'm happy to keep it.

I bought one at the Royal Canadian Mint boutique this past weekend. My daughter is a competitive Irish Dancer, and I thought this would be a cool gift for her birthday...

I really think it is beautiful...

Congrats on the purchase, it appears to be an attractive coin.

I like it when the RCM applies translucent enamel over engraved designs - the enamel gives the coin an added dimension that can be very attractive. The same approach was used on last year's In Flanders Fields Special Edition silver dollar and 2010's Limited Edition Poppy silver dollar (to name two).

It's quite bizarre why RCM can't produce higher quality photographs. The opposite is more be expected, that one buys something which appears far more attractive in a listing or ad than it actually is.

SPP, the four leaf clover is a perfect birthday gift for your daughter! It's cool how RCM sometimes hits upon exactly the perfect theme for gift giving, one that holds personal significance. The occasion I purchased this for is a relocation by a relative who's somewhat cautious. Gift giving is also when I most appreciate the obverse of NCLT, the recipient is able to remember the year it was received.
