US Mint - The United States Mint will begin accepting orders for Patricia Nixon First Spouse Gold Coins starting on Feb. 18 at noon Eastern Time (ET).

The obverse (heads side) design features a portrait of Mrs. Nixon with the inscriptions "PATRICIA NIXON," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "LIBERTY," "2016," "37th," and "1969-1974." The obverse was designed by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) artist Richard Masters and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart.

The reverse (tails side) design features stylized figures standing hand-in-hand surrounding a globe, symbolizing Mrs. Nixon's commitment to volunteerism around the world. Inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "$10," "1/2 OZ.," and ".9999 FINE GOLD." The reverse was also designed by Masters and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Jim Licaretz.

Pricing for the 2016 First Spouse Series Gold Coins is in accordance with the United States Mint pricing schedule for gold and platinum coins, which are priced according to the range in which they appear on the United States Mint Gold and Platinum Coin Pricing Grid at http://catalog.usmint.gov/coins/gold-coins/

Mintage for the Patricia Nixon First Spouse Gold Coin is limited to 10,000 units across both proof and uncirculated product options. The ratio of proof coins to uncirculated coins produced will be based on customer demand.

I suppose I'm the only one just annoying enough to point out that the lady's actual name was Thelma Catherine Ryan Nixon and that "Pat" was a nickname given by her father. I'm not aware of any historic or legal documentation showing that she ever changed it to "Patricia" although I've heard that her tombstone reads that. Sort of like Elvis Aron (ne : Aaron) Presley although Elvis had better hair.
