I haven't submitted it to be graded, or even know if I should! Any opinions?

Disclaimer: Please take my assessment with a grain of salt as the photos are somewhat blurry but this coin appears that it may have been dipped. It has that dull look to me that dipped coins have when the luster is stripped off.
It looks like it has MS features but I think it would net an AU grade.
Some others may come along and have a totally different take on this Morgan.

I used a scanner to scan the coin, which makes it blurry.
How do people normally take pictures? Some type of digital camera?

Also, it's in some hard plastic type protector that has a few scratches on it, itself. Should I try removing the coin from the protector and scanning just the coin?

The best pic would come from a digital camera. Removing the coin from the protector would also probably help.

I agree. I used to scan my photos until I learned how superior a digital camera does.
Take a look at the Coin photography forum for advice. Digital pics of the Morgan may cause me to change my previous assessement.
Do you think the coin has been dipped?

No, it doesn't appear dipped at all. The scanner is bad. I have a 1923 Peace dollar that is obviously dipped, and this looks nothing like that.

I'd like to see it out of the holder; I can't tell whether what I'm seeing on the cheek is holder or coin. Either way, though, it's probably not worthy of a slab. Its' value in MS65 is only about $100.

I took it out of the protector and tried scanning it again.

Common date. Not worth slabbing IMO.

I specialized in 1921's because they were tough, and this one is no exception. The second scan is nice and clear. The reason we prefer photos over scans is because of the lack of luster in a scan, but over time you learn how scan shades translate to luster. In the case of this coin, I'm thinking it's a high AU. The strike is nice for a 1921, and the hair and cotton boll details are typical of a Mint State 1921, but the cheek throws me. It's kinda evenly dark towards the front, which means in the real world that it's rather reflective, which indicates rub to me.

I appreciate all of the help!
I just recently got into the coin collecting from a bunch of old coins that I had. This one looked the nicest out of all of them, so I wondered if it could be rated decent enough to slab.
When I look at it in person, it doesn't appear to be any darker or have any more reflectiveness on the cheek, at all. It's really weird that it scans that way. I wish I had a digital camera. :(

We could use a reverse scan of the coin .

It's better than mine! I find UNC grades hard but I'd just say "gem"..
