Back on January 12 I won two auctions. One was from a seller in India and other from a seller in Poland. Both shipped the coins registered mail. I kept checking on both of the coins but nothing ever appeared with the tracking numbers.
I've contacted both sellers who are working to see if they can track the packages, but so far nothing. Both appear to be legitimate sellers.
So, what are the odds of having two packages ordered on the same day from different parts of the world disappear?
They were nice coins, too. I know I'll get my money back, but it is disappointing to say the least. Paul Bulgerin

More likely if it's overseas. I try to minimize that.I have to admit I ordered two coins from China this year but they were current issues with little other option of getting them.

I Have bought from India and my experience is that it normally take 6-8 weeks for the coins to arrive.

It's barely been a month. They'll get there eventually. (And yeah, tracking numbers are a pain - they're not necessarily obvious if you don't already know where to look.)
I've had a package from the USA arrive safely in 59 days. The sender (a fellow CCF member) said he was sure it must have been lost when he didn't hear from me for several weeks after he sent it (in May), and was really surprised when he got my reply (in August - being on vacation myself, I didn't see the arrival notice until another week later).

We have a strict ebay selling policy , we only ship to or buy from countries with a good postal reputation and even then you can get into "Duck Soup". Pretty much any numismatic item you would ever need to buy can easily be found in the following places. The USA, Great Britain, Western Europe, and to a lesser degree Canada or Australia. Stay away from third world countries and you will have far less anxiety attacks. Good Luck.

I have not had problems with receiving packages from Poland... India (from and to) can be a different story

Patience is tough when the days slide by and there is no delivery and no tracking help. But the vast majority of the time it's just that other postal systems don't operate like the US. Keep an eye on your time limitation for reporting non-receipt. If you exceed that time limitation neither ebay or Pay Pal will help you.

About 50% of overseas sellers provide a tracking number, even if they send the item via registered mail. It can get very frustrating.

I know ebay gives your 45 days to file a claim if something doesn't arrive. Will they extend that in the case of something coming from overseas? I've written both sellers about the 45 days, but haven't heard back yet. The seller in Poland said their postal system makes you wait thirty days from shipment before filing a claim. The Indian seller has filed a complaint with the Indian postal system. (He does have some complaints about slow shipping, but that may not be his fault. He contacted me when he shipped it and it was right after I paid.)

If you want to go the paranoia route, once is chance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action...
Feeling lucky? Buy a 3rd item and see what happens...
Personally, I'll go with stuck in the international mails. Which seems to take an outrageous amount of time.

At least you're the buyer and not the seller. One month doesn't seem too bad so far. I'm still waiting over 1 month for a package I shipped to arrive, and it only went 350 miles within in the USA.

Lo and Behold! The coin from Poland arrived today.
It never entered the tracking system, but it did arrive.

COTW- a hint: take the CN tracking number and plug it into the USPS tracking site. China Post often doesn't get updates once it's send outbound from China.

I plugged in the registered tracking number for the coin from Poland into the USPS tracking website and it still shows nothing, even though they delivered it today.

The coin from India finally arrived today, about 45 days after it was shipped. It never entered the tracking system and I didn't have to sign for it.
The seller was going to refund my payment tomorrow. I've sent him a message that it finally got here.
Glad both coin stories had happy endings, even if there was a long wait involved to get there.
