Post's subtitle: There is Still Good in the WorldThursday past, myself and two other Woodstockians car pooled up to the Florencville Collector Club.
This was the first meeting we had of the new year. Our last coin club meeting was in November. December was our Christmas dinner get together and January we were snowed in.
Anyways back in November, coin club veteran and former NB/PEI representative to the
RCNA, said he would bring some tokens down after Christmas to go though. He said he would have lots of Gold plated and silver varieties too.
In the bag he passed me to go through I found the last Woodstock token I needed, the 1994 Anglican!

I could not find the token online to show you guys a picture, nor could I find out the exact mintage in my book (Woodstock tokens are not listed) but there she is in all her neo-gothic glory!
This church is on the corner of Main and Church street. Since Woodstock is on the Maine border many loyalists settled here after the War of 1812. With all the loyalist this church had to be erected. I guess this was the 3rd attempt at building an Anglican church on that piece of land, the first 2 attempts never came to fruition.

Now as to how I got this token, well, there is a bit more to the story.
A transplant from Boston living on the ME/NB border also likes to collect trade tokens of Atlantic Canada and New England. He also likes Arab Sassanian drachmas. Yes, as odd and verried as my collection interests are, there is another guy out there just like me.
I went through one of the bags of tokens and pasted them down to him. He does not collect the off metals, just the basic examples of each type. We both needed the Anglican church to finish off our set. I over looked it as their where 3 Saint Gertrude Catholic church tokens in the same bag. The two churches look similar when rendered on the tokens.
I told him that if you ever find that token I would do something crazy, I have CAD20 for you. I need that token. It has been two years looking. I was born in Woodstock in 1994 and raised Anglican. That token was the most "me" token in existence. As he went through the bag and I went through the bag he just went though I hear Larry say, "Well, I guess I will be a good guy".
I turned my head, "Pre tell?"
The church token, he has 2 bucks on it. Take 'er.
........................................................
I was so happy, I asked him if he needed anything and he said he needed 1 token to complete his NB set (excluding all the Saint Andrew by the Sea ones they keep pumping out).
I asked him what one and he said "The Campbellton one with the bridge, they list an error existing in the book but I only want one or the other. DO you know what the error is though".
Ok, I have one and it is yours! You know Tom that comes to the shows?
I might, which one is he?
Fellow from Saint John, he wears his spectacles on a chain. Anyways he sold me a bag of mostly Loyalist dollars from Saint John but that token you want was in the bag. I already had 3 or 4 of them so I put it in my "do something with it someday" drawer. I will check to see which one it is. They error was during the first minting they spelled Campbellton "Cambellton" and when they noticed the mistake they fixed the spelling for a small batch. I will hunt you down the more valuable proper spelled version.
If he didn't see it I would still be looking! Now on to my next New Brunswick town!
