Every winter when I get laid off from work, I go through all my change from the past year and look for fun stuff. I start with the pennies, turn them into the bank change sorter, and use that money to buy nickel rolls, then to dimes and quarters. Well this year I got lucky with a roll and found a Buffalo nickel.
Well they year I got thinking about my precess and concluded that if someone is rolling their coins, they are more lucky to spot a coin such as that, but when someone just grabs a jar of coins and takes it to the bank, they are less likely to encounter that rare coin. So I pulled 800 quarters from the jar, drove to the local credit union, and bought a $200 bag of nickels from the sorter. Well going through it, I just found a 1944 silver nickel. Not a major money maker, but I'm enjoying the hunt and even more when I find something.

After a hiatus from CRH (and this forum) for a year and a half (due to external circumstances) I am itching to start going through rolls again, and reading posts like this has me tempted to start with nickels.

I roll my quarters but cents, nickels and dimes get dumped in to my banks coin star but rest assured I check everything before they get 86'ed lol And great job on the War Nickel, I love finding those!
