My first ever set of silver dollars "purchased"..from back in the early 70's. All stacked in a pill tube with one of each following year from 35 on,..

.. and they somehow managed to only get rubbed a bit from that experience..

I also love this obverse the best..

You can see the soft rub on the beard and cheek but in hand there are soft blues and reds to be seen besides the overall brownish toning.

I did pick up dollars of the year from the bank in the 60's, but they were naturally bright and shiny..

How do you all feel that this would this grade with the different TPG's.. ? +'s or -'s..

I would like any feed back on it,.. and does this toning affect the grading here..?

It's been sitting in it's present holder from the 90's..

Nice one!
Beautifully toned!
AU58, shows a bit of "cabinet friction" but luster is still intact.
Thanks for sharing.

My favourite. Like that even toning.
Agree with AU58 because of the rubbing.
Check the "XXV" for Machine Doubling
(Obverse Variety 002).
Hard to tell from picture but might be there.

Toning never affects technical grade , only eye appeal and price, thus affecting market grade. The coin pictured in my opinion is relatively flat and unappealing. These come with incredible sea green and russet toning when found in original holdings or are from tubes. This piece is the socalled Obv.2 ( MDD) variant. The cabinet friction is apparent, AU 58 or with grade flation MS60. Still a nice piece to own.

It's due for better pics as these are from a few years back, and I will have a closer look for any doubling..

That obverse has the perfect balance with the wonderful darker toning in the legend, and somehow those Roman Numerals work so well here.
