Let me know what you think! I'll post results after a few days or after I get 10 or so guesses.

This will be one of three.

'The Sower' by O. Roty, was one of the inspirations for the Weinman Walking Liberty on the Half dollars.

These used to be common at about EF in dealers' in medium priced junk boxes 30 years ago. In this grade, quite scarce now.

I agree with
MS64.

Beautiful coin. Looks like a really nice strike. I say MS64 too, but wouldn't be at all surprised at a 65.
Rest in Peace

I'd buck the consensus on this one and guess a clear MS-65.

Man, some of you guys were tough on this one. I own an MS66 1 franc 1919, and this one looked every bit as good. Better in some ways. Look at the last photo of the obverse, there's not a mark on it, and you can see all the ripples in the metal from the strike. This coin came back MS63 and it is the most apart NGC and I have ever been. I had it at 65 at least and hopefully 66 and they gave it MS63. Maybe it wasn't the 66 I was hoping for, but I cannot see at all how MS63 is called for.

I agree. From the photos it looks better than a 63 to me.

I collect these (the 1 Franc coins) and there is honestly ZERO reason why that coin should be in an MS63 holder. I would have guessed MS65, very good shot at MS66. It has full luster, full strike, lovely peripheral toning, and I have seen MS66 graded examples that I would chose yours over. In short, I think NGC was overly harsh on this one.

How does the rim of the coin look? Maybe there was a nick...which may explain the downgrade.

These have reeded edges, and I see no rim bumps or other obvious problems with the rims in the pictures. I honestly think this is a case of NGC being overly harsh for some reason. It happens...MS63 is an opinion, not dogma.
