Here's a section that will be of interest to British Commonwealth coin collectors. It is a discussion about the coins from the Anglo-French Condominium of the New Hebrides, whose first coin was the silver 100 Francs crown of 1966.The British administration tended to allow the circulation of Australian coinage in the New Hebrides, whereas, the French administration tended to allow the circulation of New Caledonian coinage. The odd-ball in this series is the 1 Franc,2 Francs,& 5 Francs dated 1982.This series is interesting,as it was issued as a provisional series 2 years after the New Hebrides gained independence as the Republic of Vanuatu within the British Commonwealth. In 1983,the New Hebrides Francs were withdrawn & replaced by the Vatu, which is unusual among British Commonwealth currencies,as the Vatu does not have any subdivisions.
