Search 8 rolls from the bank today and found 15 LWC one was a 1920 and another was 1939 the rest 40's and 50's and this odd 1988-P. Is it safe to think it is a huge die crack?
I thought the same thing Fuzzy until I seen the reverse, along the whole edge of America has some as well. Directly opposite the obverse. You may be correct. Thats why I am here my friend.
Very Late Die Stage. This has caused a sloping effect from the rim, creating a low rig in which the plating has split on. Look at the photo of the reverse. You can see the difference in lighting all around the area just inside the rim. It slopes down to about the distance where the leterring starts.
