I bought this coin off ebay about 15 years ago. It came in a case from the NNC marked MS-65. After reading about this grader I understand that they grade high, however I am more concerned if it is a real coin. I paid somewhere around $700 dollars for it. The case has a small hair fracture in the back? I'm thinking of sending it in to the NGC. Any advise?

Looks real to me but a picture of the other side would help. Coin could be either high AU or low MS.

Looks good as far as authenticity is concerned.
A low selling price for a NGC MS-63 is right at $650. So if it hits that level, you wouldn't be out much. If it hits 64, you did great.
Note that sending one coin to NGC is usually not a great idea, cost wise. You will need to use the over $300 Early Bird, which is $30, plus $21 for return shipping (which is the same for one to fifteen coins), plus $8 per invoice. So you would pay $59 to have this one coin graded.
The more coins you can send to them (up to 15) the smaller the postage and invoice costs become percentage wise.

Thanks! I really like the pennies and this one is one of my favorites. I also have a couple handfuls of Two Cents, some of which are PCGS graded- which I'll keep, but also a few that are graded by other companies. Maybe I'll send them in together to save on the shipping. Thanks for the tip and the opinions!

Worst case scenario I see a 62 or so on this one, but I think it has 63/64 potential, more toward the 63 range though. Keep us updated if you do end up sending it out and what it comes back as.

Cricket .... Why would you want to grade it? For purpose of selling or why?
Seems you like the coin but have an issue with the case and the grade .....
From others we've seen cost is $50 or better to get it graded, ouch ..... So decision time .....
Personally I would rip it out if the holder and put in type coin set folder, coin looks marvelous / nice strike as well.

I'm not looking to sell the coin. In fact, I would like to keep this small collection of coins and hand them down someday. I was looking to have it graded mostly because I was curious what kind of deal I got from ebay. If it was real, how much the grader inflated the grade, put it in a nicer case, etc... I am not much of a coin collector but like I said, I really like the pennies and Two Cents. When I do get it graded I will stop back and let you guys know what it came back as. Thanks again for the replies!
