Here's another British Commonwealth section. This time,it is about the coins of Zanzibar. The first Zanzibari coin was the AH1299 (1882) 1 Pysa, which is extremely common. There was a series of coins in AH1299 that included a silver 5 Ryal crown & a gold coin. Then a 1 Pysa was issued in AH1304 (1887).This is a bit difficult to find. The AH1299 & AH1304 coinages were issued just prior to coming under British protection, but Zanzibar was clearly under British influence at this time.In 1908,a coinage denominated in Cents was issued. This is very rare. The AH1299 1 Pysa was the source design for the obverse of the Mombasa 1 Pice coin of AH1306 (1888),as it has a pair of scales.
