Here's another section that will interest collectors of coins from both the British Isles & the British Commonwealth. It is about the coins of Ireland.Irish coinage can be divided into the following catagories; Crown coinage (up to 1823),Irish Free State coinage (1928-37),Eire (1939-48),& the Republic (1949 onwards).Technically, the coins
of the Republic of Ireland are not British Commonwealth issues, but they are popularly collected for the sake of continuity. The Irish Euro
coins are becoming popular with British Commonwealth collectors, because the obverse is the same as the coins that have been
struck since 1939.There was a 1 Penny struck in 1938 for Ireland, but this is a unique pattern coin that is in the collection of the British
Museum.

The 1936 Farthing is the only Irish coin struck during the reign of King Edward VIII.The 1937 coinage is the only Irish Free State coinage
of King George VI.The 1939-48 coinage is also King George VI's as well,as he was King of Ireland under the terms of the External Relations Act,1936 (An Act of Dail Eireann),until the 18th of April 1949,when the Republic of Ireland Act,1948 came into force.
