Approximately 3" in diameter, the wording is "JERUSALEM" and the reverse is just flat with no relief or words. Found in dirt while gardening, it appears to be brass. I want to say part of belt buckle but I doubt it. Note the strategic holes (under the S and at the end of the word) meaning it was attached to something? Anyone have any idea what this is?

It would appear to be an amulet of some kind, privately made, and sold to pilgrims, tourists and other visitors to the city. My mother was given, by a friend who visited there a couple of years ago, a small brightly coloured porcelain plate with a very similar design.

Sap, you are always "the man". Thanks for the opinion.
Tourist Souvenir appears to be as good an explanation but those two tiny holes are what's gnawing at me.

I've been told to check out a book, "Judaic Tokens and Medals" by Sylvia Haffner. Printed in a limited edition of 1000, this book is very rare. Consulting a book like this would be overkill, as my item has no reverse and could not be a token.

I emailed a guy who specializes in Jewish coins and medals and he couldn't offer any help.

Looks like a coin from the Goonies!
