Looks like they over polished it. Probably to remove something undesirable on the die. But they thinned down the fields a bit and made able look like "Hans Solo" in STAR WARS when he was taken back to Jobba the Hut. LOL

I didn't even make that corlation till you said that HAHA. Yeas wonder why they went to town on the reverse and not the obverse. Still its part of my SMS it has a very minor DDR as well but I don't think that had anything to do with anything

On die may have made a mark on this die damaging it. So rather than retire it, they polished it. Sometimes Isolated polishing is on just one area.

This one on the outer edge of the die. Not how it affected the tops of the devices on just one area of the die?
