This looks like one dirty penny, but wondering why the two different colors in the front and back? Any suggestions.

Maybe it used to be in a coin folder or other type coin holder. One side is exposed to air and handling, the other side is hidden away and somewhat protected to retain partial luster. On the reverse, is that dark area over the memorial possibly glue

Thank you Fuzzy317. It looks like it could possibly be glue. Wish I could get a picture closer up. Hmmmm...So do you think the front is possibly the same color as the back?

It should be the same, just one side (obverse) exposed to the environment resulting in it being darker, and the other (reverse) "protected" retaining luster/newness in areas.

Wish I could clean it...
Don't you ever wonder when going through some of these rolls what kind of life these pennies have lived through lol. Sometimes I won't even look at a penny if it looks like something gross is on there.

This coin has been lying still, unnoticed an aggressive surface, for at least a couple of years.

Mostly stain on the coin. Probably in a tray with some liquid in it. (soda or something else)

Thank you T70c2a. I suppose it could be, but it would probably be old cause it's not sticky at all.
