Not sure if this is the right terminology or even what it is for sure. Looks like the die chipped and the piece remained somewhat rotated.

It is a die chip. Leave the word "retained" out of the equation. That word is only used when the die has a piece that has broken away from the die but is still in the die itself.

Die chip it is. I thought maybe retained because that part of the column is struck but rotated. Lots of things I still don't understand but learning.
