Hi everybody,

CoinWeek Editor Charles Morgan here.

I wanted to share with you a brand new video that I made along with my co-writing partner Hubert Walker about the process by which the Austrian Mint's Gold Philharmonic Bullion coin is made.

Hubert and I travelled to Austria in January and were given un-precedented behind-the-scenes access to the Mint. We shot footage of a room that houses more than 100 million dollars worth of gold and silver bullion, saw the minting process from the creation of blanks and planchets, to the coining room, to the inspection room.

It was a fascinating trip. In this video, you will see things that even advanced collectors usually do not get the chance to see. Ever wonder what it looks like to change out a broken die? Want to see through the coolest loupe imaginable?

I've spent the last week editing the footage down and tweaking this video so that it conveys a true sense of being there. It's the first of a series of videos from my time at the Mint and represents the standard by which CoinWeek's videos are going to be held to going forward.

I welcome your feedback and will be around to answer any questions you have about the process.

Note: This video was shot and uploaded in 4K. You will have to watch it on youtube to see it in its intended resolution Youtube will stream it in 1080 if that's the maximum your monitor can handle.

The embedded version does not have nearly the same level of detail as the actual video that's on youtube.

Happy Collecting!
