Is this just another quarter with red paint or can it be something else other than paint?

Everytime I see a red painted quarter I'm reminded of a couple of friends back in the late 70's or early 80's that painted a bunch with red enamel paint.

There explanation was they wanted to see if any came back to them in the future. There way of playing where's George I guess.

From time to time over the years I've run across quarters with red paint usually mostly worn off, but when I run across ones from that time period I wonder if it was one of theirs. Thanks, Doug.

I've heard the story that a bar would use these red painted quarters in their jukebox and when the company came to empty the machine they would give the red painted ones back to the bar.

When I was younger and played pinball the shop would paint the house quarter red to pull them out. The others were profit.
