I was able to find this group of large cents at my local show yesterday. I am not that familiar with the later dates, but these seemed like a good buy so I took the chance. The 1856 is particularly interesting - it shows very little wear, and I think the weakness seen is due to strike rather than wear. Let me know your thoughts, and if any body could throw in an attribution, I would be really grateful. Thanks!

1847 is an easy call: N-1, based on the clear recut date and the closeness of the 7 in the date to the star. 1847 N1 (R2-) Early-Middle Die State (no reverse cracks); EAC 30/25 sharpness, avg- surfaces; TPG grade VF35 The 1850 is an N-9 (if no dot on earlobe) or N-23 (if the dot exists). 1850 N9 or N23, R2 for both dies, MDS, EAC 35 sharpness/avg surfaces; TPG grade XF45 to AU50. 1856 is an N1, with a weak strike and/or later die state. 1856 N1 (R1), LDS, EAC 40 sharpness, avg surfaces, good color, two minor nicks and a spot of verdigris. TPG grade AU55-AU58.

1847 was an easy one being N-1. 1850 may be N-9 or possibly N-25. Having a hard time seeing the lump around the eye area. 1856 could also be n-18 or n-1 Cannot see lines below eye that are supposed to be there for N-1. 1847 looks f30 to 35, 1850 looks XF 40 to 45, 1856 looks AU 55ish

Thank you very much, guys, for your help with the attributions and for the detailed EAC grading. (Attributing Newcombs eludes me still as I do not have any references, and the differences between varieties seem to be minute!).
I will examine the 1850 closer for signs of a dot on earlobe.
All in all I think I did well for 85 euros for the 3 coins ($94 bucks)

WOW - GERMANICVS! You always score some nice coins. That 1856 looks super, except I'm seeing a spot right in the center (Lower Ear Lobe) with green (PVC) you may want to double check that and get it off with some acetone if it is indeed gunk that can be removed.
