I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I went to a gun show today, and a man was selling Morgan dollars for $20 each, he had about 15 of them, and they were just laying on his table, I didn't buy any, because I noticed they looked very shiny, as if they were polished up... How can I spot a coin that was polished? I've heard of polishing devaluing a coin, but how much can it devalue it?

If the devices (design) and fields have the same shiny look to them, the coin has likely been harshly cleaned/polished.

Under a loupe, you won't see the original struck surface except perhaps in protected areas such as between numbers, letters, etc. There may also be a lot of hairlines (very thin scratches) all over the coin that will become obvious as you change the lighting angle (because they're often in the same direction). Even BU Morgans often show some bag marks due to long-term storage by the treasury and banks.
