How common are book end serial numbers. What about consecutive numbers in a serial number, such as 1111. 4 numbers? 5 or 6?

Thanks for your input.

I'd say they r uncommon at best. 6 in a row might have a sm premium

Agree they're uncommon, but when you think about it, the permutations for even 5 consecutive numbers are gigantic. I tend to agree that it would take at least 6, which probably wouldn't have much value on a circulated note especially. There might be exceptions for very scarce notes or star notes, of course.

I've seen 4 of the same number in a row about a dozen times, which shows that it's too common for a premium unless it's part of another fancy serial number. Six in a row would be the minimum, but the value depends on collector demand, condition, and rarity.

As per bookends, the chance of having the first two and last two numbers the same are 1 in 100. For three, 1 in 1000. For a four (a repeater), 1 in 10,000.
