Made my first purchase from provident metals and got a ms62 PCGS graded 2.5 gold Indian. The back was scratched off and the top looked like someone had done some damage to it by trying to pull it apart slightly. Tell me if I'm being a baby about nothing.

If the holder has been tampered with I would ask for a refund.

If it worries you return it if you can.
If paid with Pay Pal or CC file complaint.
Our opinion can be much better w photos of what worries you.

Was on my phone before and was getting frustrated with that coin plus trying to get photos onto the site...here you go: They said I would be getting a return label in 1-3 days (seriously?) and that this must have "slipped through the cracks" I should have just paid the extra $20 and made the purchase through APMEX.

Is that even PCGS? I thought that was NGC's logo..to be fair, I don't get graded coins a lot.

Have you contacted the company yet to express your concerns? You should do this first, and assuming you did pay by Paypal or CC, you should tell them you will file a dispute if they give you an argument - and then do so immediately if necessary, as mox correctly suggests.

Prior post sent before I saw your pics.
That sort of defaced label is not unusual.
Don't see evidence of the tampering you mentioned.

You probably won't see the tampering from those pictures. I'd have to hold it so that you could see the top edge. It looks almost like it was dropped or rubbed against something very rough.
Honestly, if this is not unusual then I will never buy another graded coin. To me, I wouldn't buy a graded coin that has this kind of damage done to its holder. For this to be worth anything to me, I'd have to get it re-holdered.

NGC's hologram is outside the slab (no clue why, have never understood this). So when dealers and other idiots put sticky labels on the back, some labels lift the hologram right off. Those same dealers and other idiots assume it doesn't matter.
Certainly the buyer can pay to have it reholdered, but I don't see why he should have to if he's unhappy.
FWIW NGC has 6075 listed at MS62, so there are other fish in the sea!

#1) That certainly isn't a PCGS holder... the scales are the logo and property of NGC... #2) I'm a bit skeptical that this is even an NGC holder... the ones I own, have the words Numismatic Guarantee Company written on the bottom...
I thik you have every right to be upset at this point.. mistakes are made... now how do they make it right for you?

If you are upset, seek a refund. In the end you have to be happy with the purchase.
