If someone is making decent money on CRH they must be pretty lucky. Most of the time people are lucky to find a few silvers in a whole box. Let's even say you found a whole roll of halves, odds are they are pretty circulated and worth about $150 on ebay. After fees and shipping you'd be at $130. You also had to use gas to get to the bank and then back again to return them. Maybe you're lucky and pass a bank on the way to work but that's not always the case. You also aren't going to find a roll of silver per box, folks get skunked all the time. Don't get me wrong CRH is a ton of fun but I consider it a hobby not a big money maker.

Let's see......, a $1 sale, .10 to ebay, .33 to paypal, .49 stamp cost, plus you are losing the nickle. Total comes to .97 for seller, and they make......drum roll, .03. Almost worth the purchase just to make them ship it, but I'm not that evil

It's funny Edweather...two weeks ago I accidentally bid on a 1961 proof nickel that was straight out of its set. I put a bid of $12 instead of $0.12 (the auction had like 2 hours left and was at like 7 cents or something very minuscule) so I said screw it, I've already retracted several times this year and I don't want to have to do it again, so I left it. Ended up winning it for retail, for $1.25. Came in the mail last week in a huge bubble mailer envelope. Cost the guy $2.60 to ship

So, with ebay fees and paypal fees, along with gas, and time to ship, sounds like he lost a LOT more then I did. Didn't make me feel that bad when I put the $12 bid :)

Anyways, kinda got lucky. The coin has spotting but I have it at a PR-66 maybe even 67. Thank god he was careful taking it out because there's not a single print on it. Just some spotting from air getting in.
Rest in Peace

I agree. Barely anybody is going to make much money CRHing. I just see it as a fun way to pass the time, but not a way to make much profit.

If I was going to sell a coin and I wasn't sure if it was a mint error I would research it to find out,and even with research a person can make a mistake but coins like that one there would be no doubt that it wasn't a mint error, people just need to take the time to research cause when they don't it hurts the hobby, when some new young collector comes along and buys these coins and find out later that it isn't an error they might get discouraged and give up on collecting.

I'm concerned that this hobby is slowly going downhill because now a bunch of people are just CRHing for the money aspect so they can profit off of it.

And a lot of other that just buy and sell based on what is printed on the slab label. To a large extent it is no longer a coin collecting hobby, it's a chase the slab label hobby. A little bit ago I read a tirade on the NGC from some guy who was upset because they changed the umber of points they assigned to some coins on the registry. Doesn't affect the standings, but he was all upset because he doesn't have as many points as he used to. That's coin collecting?

"Yes, and they vote!!"

This is what makes you

But this is a coin forum so I will say I usually CRH just to relax from a days work so I dont really view it as work I just view it as part of my hobby.

I once heard a joke that went like this:
Guy #1: "They really need to put a tax on stupidity."
Guy #2: "They already have, it's called the lottery."
