I informed the seller, who has apparently never sold a coin before. They are only asking $1, and there are no bids.
ps. Good to see you back, so you must be feeling better?

Today is Day 4 of me being sick. I'm still recovering, slowly but surely. I didn't go to school yesterday or today, and probably won't until at least Thursday if anything Friday. Starting to feel a bit better today, but still very achy, ears are still blocked, nose is still stuffed and blocked and draining, and my throat is killing me from the draining as well.
I don't think I have a fever anymore, however, so that's the good news. I slept really well last night. Hopefully I'll be back in the hang of things soon.

To answer the original question, yes.
And it's getting worse.

so I went and looked at it and got a laugh. but then I saw this has ratings. so are those ratings for that red nickel? or all nickels with that date? I can not believe it has 2 positive and praising reviews of this crap coin! I used to do ebay long time ago but I have not sold for years on there.

Quote: And it's getting worse. I'm seeing it here too. I get there's ignorance from when you begin collecting coins, but when I started off, at the young age I was, I could tell you those dents you see on a coin is damage, and not an error. I keep seeing people post these cents thinking they have these big errors when, in reality, it's just damage. On a facebook group today someone posted a question about a Buffalo nickel they had, asking why it "has no date" on it. People informed this person it was worn off (really it wasn't, it was a partial 1927, but thats irrelevant), and after 3 or 4 people said it was worn off, this guy just goes off and says it's an "error". I mean come on.

I'm concerned that this hobby is slowly going downhill because now a bunch of people are just CRHing for the money aspect so they can profit off of it.

See but that's what I've been seeing on these facebook groups. I'm part of, and own a CRHing group, and I see people finding all this good stuff then going to these other pages and selling it.
I only sell my stuff that I have duplicates of, and the money goes straight toward more coins!

I was talking more in general than just coins...
As for the monetary gain part of CRHing, that goes with the new generation of "why should I have to work for money?"
As the late great Tim Wilson once said, "It's a sorry world."

You mean like dealers? Sorry, I'm not really trying to be sarcastic but buying and selling has been going on forever. It's what makes the world go round. Capitalism at it's best. Now that doesn't mean you have to like it but I don't think anyone should be criticized for doing it. Last I looked this is America, right?

Drew: I hope you're feeling better! Been 4 weeks for me.. and I'm just starting to get my voice back so I know how ya feel in some ways!
With respect to the item being sold... I noticed that this seller hasn't sold many items and they already admited they don't know much about coins.... perhaps this is just a way to boost their sales and positive feedback?
With repect to coin roll hunting.... all I've got to say is that IS work. I do it because I find join in looking for dates.. finding an UNC or two and perhaps a variety.... but it isn't easy!
Anyone that wants to CRH and sell off their coins for profit I say good luck! For the amount of time it takes (and time is money!) you're sometimes better off probably just buying the variety from the dealer.... you kinda have to love doing it for the sake of doing it... I know I'm personally into about 40 boxes of nickles (canadian) and have yet to find a 1990 bare belly beaver.. yet I could easily go to the LCS and have bought one for $10-$30...
Now when the uneducated try to profit by saying something is rare or a variety when it isn't... well that's unfortunate, but it does happen... it's human nature.. I think there's lots of people that wish they had a "golden ticket"... unfortunately they will always remain just an uoompaloompa.
Will that hurt our hobby.... perhaps a touch.. but it isn't new.. I worry more about the mass production of decently counterfeits that are made and the progression towards a cashless society will have a greater effect on this hobby.. but that's just my humble opinion.
