Many nice examples of double die varieties exists for modern Canadian 25 cents, 1 and 2 dollars denominations but this is the first I find for the 5 cents. The coin exhibits a nice class 4 hub offset doubling slightly to the east. The doubling is quite deep making it possible, with 10x magnification, to properly identify the splits in the serif of all the letters in the legend of the obverse.Happy hunting.

Very cool.... I would love to write about that one in my CN Journal column... (or invite you to write a submission).
Numidian, send me a PM, if you are interested in seeing this written up in my CN Journal variety column.

Just dug in my stash and found 11 new unbroke 2009 mint rolls. Hummm! This is a dandy find and thanks for sharing.

I hope chadcoins you have not unbroken your 2009 rolls. Some of you will hate me for this. Wanting to take pictures for SPP-Ottawa's article, I just realised that it is a 2013 nickel and not a 2009. I was verifying all my 2009s obverse and did not notice this was a 2013. I am so sorry :(
I asked if there was a way to change the title.
I feel very bad for this mistake.

Great find! Something new to look for. Something I'm curious about though. Modern coins like this are produced from dies made with a single squeeze. Class IV doubling is not applicable here as there should be no double hubbing of the die. Do we have a name and a cause for the type of doubling shown here?

I remember reading The single squeeze method is really 2 squeeze's in one. The initial squeeze, then pressure is held briefly, then more pressure is added. This still allows the odd Double die to occur do to machine shift or chatter. just my opinion lets see what the experts say.

Numidan, do you have the original Numicanada web forum link to this variety?
