Hello friends. When the US Mint began the Presidential Coin Collection in 2007, I began purchasing them through an autoship program. I somehow got off track (very busy with military) and so I stopped the collection.
I have the first ten rolls of uncirculated coins plus the first five commemorative cases with coins.
I am now retired and downsizing everything. I did a little research and it looks like these sold well in 2011 but, now the price has fallen.
Would you mind sharing your thoughts on the best way to sell these coins? I would appreciate any information that you would be willing to share.
Thank you!
Mary Harvey

Did you buy these direct from the US Mint, or from an aftermarket seller, such as World Monetary Reserve? Your mention of Commemorative cases implies an aftermarket seller.

The bad news is that you probably won't begin to recoup your original price on these. The first several years were available in uncirculated rolls from your local bank for face value, it was only after 2010 or 2011 (?) that they stopped minting these for general circulation and only sold bags and rolls at a premium direct from the mint. If yours are as stated the first ten ones issued, they might have a slight (10 to 30% over face) premium, but ebay fees will eat that up pretty quickly, and there are a glut of the early rolls out there. My bank even still has some uncirculated rolls from then. I had two rolls of each mint for each President that I'ld gotten from the bank for the first couple years, until they switched to only minting them for collectors, and just cashed them all in at the bank last year.

If you have a local coin shop anywhere it might be best to get an offer from them to work with.

Are there any years or mint marks, etc., etc. we could guide her in the direction of?
Mary, thank you for your service. The honor is mine!

If you're looking to unload, a local coin shop is a good choice, as moxking suggests. You will not get what you paid for them, very likely, but you will get something and convert stuff that's taking up room into cash. If you want to maximize your dollar, you will probably want to sell them individually (on ebay, perhaps), but that takes longer and you have to consider fees. I hope you didn't pay too much for this stuff from HSN.

Also... what are the "commemorative cases"?

to the forums sister! You could try shopping them around to your local stores or online dealers such as Mint products. You might also consider searching for a person willing to trade them for some silver/gold. That way you at least have some potential for a future increase in value.

jgfindring Thank you for the information.
Mayflower 2020 Thank you for the welcome!
moxking Thank you for the welcome. I will consider our coin shop. I think we only have one on the coast.
silverbob You are most welcome! Thank you for responding!
CelticKnot Thank you for the welcome! With shipping I paid 63.95 for a roll from each mint and the commemorative case. The case is plastic, has a picture and info of the President and shows both sides of the coin.
Half Thank you for the welcome, great suggestions!

Mharvey after you do enough post to where you can trade on here you might be able to trade for a coin or coins that would be easier to sell.
