I just recently starting collecting and am curious as to what standards you keep an item vs putting back into circulation.

My OCD has every year separated so I can look through each year set for errors.

Is there a grade level that you would keep (45+?)

When I started collecting (seriously) just a few years ago, I kept just about everything. I find my standards are higher now. These days I don't think I want buy anything less than AU. That resolve flies out the window when I'm at a coin show and see something I just have to have.

It depends on what you like. I'm more quantity over quality, mainly for budget reasons.

One of the great things about collecting is that it is fully personal and personalizable.

I'm assuming your CRH'ing . It all depends on what your looking for; varieties ,errors, wheats , old nickels or silver. My rule of thumb was if it's Lincolns, save all AU or better .
You'll get the hang of it once you see what interests you the best.
BTW , to CCF .

Keep it simple. If you love the coin keep it. If you have ANY reservations about it and don't truly love it, let it go back to the wild.

My general standard is filling a hole with good eye appeal.
