I was given my FILs coins instead of furniture, etc. as they moved to an assisted living complex. Mostly circulation coins from the 30s to the 50s, but a wide assortment. Mostly G-VG coins, a few nice ones. But I went to my LCS to see what they were worth, left with the coins and a Dansco 7070 album and hopes of completing it. Enjoying finding out about Two Cent Pieces, half-dimes, never even knew they existed. Found the forum on the Internet, lots of good information. But all the items on counterfeit coins is scary as heck! So I think no ebay for me. Looking at starting (ok, already bought some)a kind of type collection for military related commemoratives as lots of veterans in the family (US Army 71-74).

I understand your concern about counterfeit coins. I do understand your concern about ebay but I buy plenty of coins there (90%) but I buy slabbed and graded coins so I feel relatively safe in doing so.

to CCF And a shout out to the LCS that - instead of a low ball offer - created a new collector!

We look forward to hearing about your 7070 adventure. As for fakes, they are out there but the vast majority of them are easy to spot with some experience. Ask here for good opinions.

To CCF And congrats on starting a 7070. The very curious part is ... you walked into a coin shop and walked out with a 7070 album WOW .... they are hard to find ... I hope you post some pictures of your progress as you fill it.

The 7070 album wasn't new - it had coins already in it! Mostly modern, but a few others. So a great deal for me. Dale at Antioch Coins in California has been really great at providing an education on the coins.
