Yes - they are found frequently on the corners of the Memorial.

I can't answer the value question but was wondering if that's zinc showing around some of the protected areas. If so, is it common that the copper plating process is incomplete?

I think die cracks are interesting and I like to keep them. I can't see anyone paying more than 1c for this one. More complex die cracks may have a bit of a premium. Keep your eyes open for a shattered die http://www.error-ref.com/?s=shattered+die

Here are some prices received for them: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...045573.m1684

It is common - one name for it is "split plating". Copper plating zinc alloy planchets began in mid 1982.

When the strike pressure is strong, this happens. You can see it on the outside edges on devices and the Memorial building. Not a plus far a coin. The die crack as mentioned is common on the edges of the Memorial. Not a real premium for this though.
