I have 17 coins I want to submit for Grading. Well not actually grading I know what grades they are. They are all problem coins. Problems range from Cleaned, corroded, major dings, one ever so slightly bent and one a fake (curious to see if they spot it as a fake) Why do I want them graded? They are all key dates and or rare varieties the cheapest of which will retail for around $200 I am trying to cull my 2 Cent collection down some what to just the better coins and I want the best return on my investment. I know everyone says by the coin and not the slab but reality dictates otherwise. A slabbed net AU small motto 2 Cent is going to sell for a lot more then a raw one. I also feel more comfortable selling problem coins that have had the problems confirmed by a reputable TPG. I initially just thought send them to ANACS but there is a chance NCS can do something with a couple of them to 'conserve' them. Given that I want to send them all to one place which company do you think is going to give me the best return? Sorry no Pictures yet as I am still in Brazil. Perhaps when I et back I can post some if that would help.

ANACS and NCS are the only 2 major TPGs that will grade problem coins. ANACS will actually give a numbered detail grade (VG8, VF25, etc) while NCS will only give a general detail (Good, Fine, etc).

It's https://www.ngccoin.com. The other link redirects to Northrop Grumman's website. Chances are NCS will slab all of them, even the fake, because, they're not a very good TPG. If a TPG at all. ANACS will slab all except PVC, and will spot and return the fake as not legit.

I was under the impression that NGC handled all of NCS' authentication and grading, since they're under the same roof. All the same, Richard, for you it's either ANACS or ICG, both of whom are now authenticating and slabbing problem coins. Probably ANACS if you're looking to liquidate; ICG is new with slabbing problem coins and haven't built their rep yet, although they're perfectly capable authenticators.

As you know, I've always been pro-ANACS. These days, I prefer them for non-problem coins as well as problem ones. (PCGS has messed with me a little too much lately.)
I think you will get an accurate grade from ANACS and your coins will hold better value than if you use another service. NGC's reputation seems to be dropping pretty quickly (in my opinion) and I don't know that NCS will remain as respected as they once were. ANACS has done nothing but rise in the past 5 years, so I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

ANACS it is then. Will post pictures in the Grading forum before they go off so all the forum members can point out the flaws and hopefully spot the fake which two reputable local dealers at the last coin show I went to did not. Now I hope there on-line submission system is working when I get ready to send them in......
