I don't know much about coin collecting or errors. Can anyone tell me if this is something special? Thanks in advance.

Could you also provide us with a photo of the other side, too, please?

Of course! Somehow it always comes out blurry though. Hmm.

I think we will need closer, clearer pictures of the reverse to tell if there is planchet issues. The top of the last A in Canada looks like it is there inside the divit. As well look at the curl of the 5, it also looks like it is there.
This series is known for issues with die cracks and bad strikes, this could be something.

I found a better camera! I should have been more clear in the original post -- I don't know much about collecting, but I do have a small collection. Just things I've saved over the years. I'm debating about what to do with it. My nephews aren't interested. I was thinking of putting the coins back into circulation, to let someone else discover them. I doubt they're worth much. So I just wanted to see if this nickel was anything special or it if is just regular damage. Thanks so much to everyone for the comments.

Quote: I doubt they're worth much ..but... Quote: I am liking it so far! I'd send that 36 nickel off to nickelguy..seeing as he's our resident expert here..and he could closely examine it .. ..and give us all his views on it..

Here are some close-ups. This is as close as I can get with my best camera (iPad) without it turning blurry. So if the design is in the flaw, is that indicative of an error? PMD would tend obliterate the design, right? It's very interesting in any event.
