If the obverse is not damaged is that a good sign?

It looks like something forcefully nicked it while it was stationary, maybe pinched in a machine.

This one threw me off as well, I cant figure it out!

I thought it may be a clipped planchet, with the "clipped" part still being attached.

If you check out this link it looks very similar to to my coin except for that extra accumulation.

(Scroll to the bottom there's one example of a townie with a clipped planchet)

What do you guys think?

I dont see any evidence of a clip on the obverse and I cant tell if there is any blakesley effect on the reverse due to no full pic of the reverse.
If you think something is a clip we need to see full pics of both sides.

Personally, I believe it to be PMD.
The coin was punched in collar. The retained piece of metal shows the top portion of the rim which proves it was a normal strike.
Something struck the coin along the rim forcing the metal to shift.
You wouldn't necessarily see damage on the obverse in this scenario.
Just my opinion.

Alexer, If you look at the 2$ clipped planchet example, on the link I posted, you will notice that the clip is only on the reverse.

But I understand completely what your all saying!! I just don't understand why or how some of that collar is still attached to the coin and flattened towards the right side?

Hope this pic helps...

This is the example on COINSANDCANADA website, listed as "Clipped". This is the only example I can find.
