PO1 and the variety will be hard to determine. Is the date re-cut? It is surprisingly unmolested for a piece that had to circulate for many decades. Might be a PO1+!

Even in the state that it is congrats.

A year ago when I had a few bucks burning a hole in my pocket I almost jumped at a few "problem" 1700's dollars.

I missed a good one and have been regretting it ever since.

Despite its low grade, I still like it. This is still a hole in my type set.

Considering what it is you might get a "fair" grade out of it. Yeah, it's got problems but it is a tough, tough coin. Nice pick up!

Looks like an O-105/T-25 R-3+, based on star one having 2 points into the lower curl , second star touching the second curl.

No better than Poor-1, with issues. AcesKings attribution looks about as close as one can get, given the wear.

There are a lot more collectors that DO NOT have one of these than there are ones who do have one.

Grade may be low, but you have one, and it's not an unlovable example.

Even though you can't tell the coins variety, can I still send it in to get graded by ANACS?

Yes, ANACS will grade it for you as a 1795 half dollar. Probably end up as net graded in poor to fair condition.

Thanks! But when I print the form, I need to write the variety. Which I can't tell.

Don't go for the variety. Just leave that space blank. The "variety" is only if you have a minor variety or obvious variety, or if you want them to attribute a tougher variety. In your case you just want it authenticated, and graded.
