Hi folks,

I'm interested in this Toonie that looks completely silver: 1996-2006 (date below the queen's head).

2 Questions..

1) Is this a fair price to pay?
2)How rare is this error for that year? I'v seen many in other years
Thought I'd get some expert opinions before I commit.

Thanks everyone, any info is appreciated!!

In the two photos the toonie looks normal to me.
If you are interested , for that kind of dollars I'd ask for more picks.

Looks normal in the sellers scans.
Hasn't done his homework. Says gold plating is missing, none of the PL sets have gold plating.
Says in the listing you have to view it outdoors to appreciate the lack of gold colour.
I don't think coin collecting as an outdoor activity will catch on.

Not sure this is an error-- although I will admit that I am not even a novice at canadian coins.

Thanks for the advice!

I asked for pictures but he said he had no camera...and I know those pictures don't seem like its an actual error but he assured me that it was.

I offered him 50$ earlier and he declined.

He said he had already sold 2, which made me hesitant to spend the 100$ because they cant be that scarce?

Certainly would pose challenging during the winter.

"Chad coins", a member here has a bunch of these so called " white bear" sets. The seller in this case doesn't have the best pictures here but I have had many of these sets and I can say the color looks off. It's NOT an error, it's more of a perfect finish. SPP explained it to me a couple years ago but I can't remember the details...
Are they rare? Nope, not really. Go to a coin show and look through the PL sets from 2006. Check all the dealer's and I bet you will find a couple!

I believe Colonial Acres had some sets sent to a university had an XRF and came back Tungsten and other metal core but RCM uses very little of this metal.
