Between Philly and Denver almost 3 Billion were minted. So very very common but keep hunting!

My thought exactly Tryna :) I was in a store years ago and two young girls saw a Jimi Hendrix CD, and one said to the other, "Like, he died a long time ago, didn't he?. My dad used to listen to him."

Time and tide wait for no man, and old is a matter of perspective, I suppose.
Rest in Peace

FordF150, I use to have one (2009) and loved it until I cashed it in for, "Cash for
Clunkers" no joke.
Just wondering why a member who joined in 1/01/08, would ask this question?

You did say it was a kind of a joke.
Well, in all respect, can you share more valuable information to the newer members to learn.

Yes, as all have said very common. In fact there is at least one in almost every roll you search.

I think I read once ...

The mint made more 1964 Jefferson nickels, than all
the Buffalo nickels combined.

If the Buffalo Nickel coin facts page is accurate, then there were a total of 1,212,898,771 circulation and 16,148 proof Buffalo nickels minted.

The Jefferson Nickel coin facts page has, for 1964, 1,028,622,762 nickels minted in Philadelphia for circulation (3,950,762 proof) and 1,787,297,160 nickels minted in Denver.

So yes, it is true! And, for what it is worth, the Denver mint on its own minted more nickels in 1964 than the total mintage of Buffalo nickels.
