I am sure you all out there with more time in the hobby have seen this before, but not me.

On the reverse the US is missing in PLURIBUS - I think it would be a Greaser, but with where it is on the coin would it be an over polished die instead?

Still learning- Thank you for help.

There can be carrying degrees of Grease Fill on devices. Sometimes you see it on the field with grit in the grease/oil leaving the surface rough.

Sometimes it can be a very small amount that gets into the dies:

It can block just one device totally:

Sometimes it can be just a partial blockage that makes the devices look wider:

This is probably when the operator of the machine may wipe a die with a cloth. The die being incuse, this widing will fill/partially fill/move just a little into the deeper area of the die. It seem that it mostly is noticed on the devices the most often.

The more the grease, the more is blocked out on the coins strike:

The more the blockage, the interest increases for these. (80-95% range)

The last image show a distortion of the motto and the date areas. More edvident or a light fill in these little devices. (not enough to block them out, but just distort them. Hope this helps.

Thanks coop, that was my first impression. I have had a couple of over polished die coins come up and was getting confused on identifying which was which. Thanks for including all the great photos.

Couple of scratches, not too bad for a 42 yr old coin.
