I was going through a penny hoard tonight (not done yet) looking at 56D's for the D over shadow D and I ran across this one.
It looks different than the other 56D's in the bunch as in where the D is sitting and how it's so close to the 9. On all the other 56D's, the D was lower and centered between the 9 and 5 as shown. Thoughts? If you need more pics, LMK. Thanks in advance.
The mint mark were added to the dies by hand, so they will vary in locations. Below date, right of bust id the general area. This stopped in 1990 when the mint marks are part of the dies design on the master die for that mint.
